Practitioners non-academics abstracts

If your abstract has be accepted, please see below for requirements on presentation files for the Engineering Practices Specialty Conference.

To ensure presentation quality and uniformity, the following requirements have been established to assist authors in preparing presentation file for the Innovation in Engineering Practice Specialty Conference. Presentation files which do not adhere to these requirements will be returned for revision and resubmittal. Due to strict deadlines times, delays may cause a subsequent rejection of your presentation.

Maximum number of slides and file format

The completed presentation file shall not exceed 20 slides (including everything - title page, outline, acknowledgements, references, appendices, and any other supplementary information). Author(s) are required to submit one electronic file document of the presentation file through the online submission system. Please note the presentation file at the 2015 conference must be PC compatible. Mac computers or interface wires will NOT be provided. We recommend MS Powerpoint file (.ppt format).

Key days and submission deadline

The presentation file must be received by the Submission deadline indicated on the conference website. Late submission may not be accepted for presentation.

Commercialism

All commercialism must be avoided. This applies to all authors, including those from universities, consultants, independent laboratories and manufacturers. Products should be defined by their properties. Organization names may only be used once within the paper. Likewise, product names may only be used once within the paper and only where they are associated with the definition of properties. Failure to conform to these rules will result in rejection of the presentation. Acknowledgement of sponsorship at the end of the file is acceptable.

Clearances

The author(s) is/are responsible for obtaining written permission to profile the project or subject matter in their presentation from any and all clients, owners or others who have been contracted for the work. Conference organizers assume the authors have duly requested and obtained the proper permission. Conference organizers assume no liability for the failure of the author(s) to obtain such permission.

Slide numbers and font size

Slide number should be inserted to each slide. We recommend a font size of 20 or larger. Smaller font size may be difficult for the audience to read due to the size and configuration of the room.

For the first time at an annual conference, CSCE is providing a venue for civil engineering practitioners to present case studies, project implementation summaries and technology summaries. CSCE is inviting consulting companies, public sector infrastructure managers and applied research organizations to profile their expertise at the 1st Annual Conference on Innovation in Engineering Practice. This first ever Conference on Innovation on Engineering Practice will be structured as a specific stream of presentations with the 2015 CSCE Annual Conference in Regina from May 27th to May 30th, 2015.

The Innovation in Engineering Practice sessions will highlight real world demonstrations of what we as civil engineers do best, which is to create value for society. The way this stream of presentations will be organized will itself be innovative.
